Baby Jonah

It has already been over a week since we’ve brought home an addition to our family. Jonah was born on December 8th at 5:40 in the morning. I honestly did not expect to see our son so soon since he was not due for another week and a half but the nurse looked at us straight and said “Congratulations! You’re going to leave here with a baby!” Honestly, that was not what I wanted to hear. I still had too many checklist items to knock out before being forever trapped in parenthood. Yet nature does not wait until checklists are completed.

I’ve been very apprehensive about being a dad since my experience with infants and toddlers are next to nothing. I’ve had some practice hanging out with friends who’ve had babies in the last year but if they poop I can just hand-off the little pooper to the parent. When Jonah poops its my duty to clean his booty.

Overall, we are thankful to have such an easy kid who sleeps, eats and rarely cries. Although, he did poop a monster on day 4 while sitting in daddy’s lap. It took two diapers to contain the biohazard as it exploded up to the middle of his back. I was literally dry-heaving as I soaked his poop stained clothes. After this experience I feel I’m ready for anything. Projectil vomiting? Canon poop? Pee Pee Fountain? Bring it On!

With all that here are some pictures of Jonah we’ve taken this week (mostly by Uncle Charles):

Turkey Turkey Turkey

Posted on December 3rd, 2008 in Friends, family, thanksgiving, turkey by onemancho

Another successful year of turkey cookin and eatin. This year the recipe was changed up a little bit to add 3 quarts of buttermilk into the brining mix. I’d have to say it really made the turkey much more moist and juicy. Thanks to my brother for sacrificing his hand to stuff the turkey and J for massaging and oiling up the turkey carcass with room temperature butter.

Now that thanksgiving is behind us we’re anticipating the birth of our son Jonah. He’s due mid-December and we can’t wait to see him with our own eyes. I’m sure this blog will completely change from uninteresting post about myself to very interesting posts about baby C.

For now pictures of the Thanksgiving festivities:

NIKE+

There was a time in my life when I used to torture myself running around neighborhoods and man-made lakes. I even thought I could train to run with other crazy people for 26.2 miles. Some people call it a marathon I like to call it a death march. But recently with a new little toy I was given for my birthday way back in July I am pounding the pavement once again…okay…okay…pounding the treadmill.

The little gizmo is the Nike SportBand and it tracks how many miles run, calories burned, how much time and how close I am to a heart attack. It didn’t work so well with my non-Nike running shoes however after shelling out some bucks and fitting the SportBand sensor inside my new Nike Zoom Victory kicks, everything worked like magic.

So now I have a goal to run 50 miles before the end of year. That gives me approximately 77 days which should be more than enough time to beat down this challenge. BRING IT!
